These one-of-a-kind gemstones are not your ordinary variety - they are Agatized dinosaur bones, a unique type of fossilized dinosaur bone. Due to impurities in the sediment, these fossils can range in color from lavender to black, with hints of red, yellow, brown and blue. Found in the Four Corners region of the United States (specifically Moab), these agatized dinosaur bones are over 146 million years old and date back to the Late Jurassic Age. "Agatized" refers to the process of re-mineralization, where the original fossilized bone is replaced with silica-based compounds, such as agate, jasper, or chalcedony - all of which are considered semi-precious gemstones.
